Every year the mill is open at Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving - early October) with a lovely fall display. This opening coincides with the peak fall colours in this area, so just the drive the to mill at this time is a wonderful experience.
Thanksgiving at the mill features lovely decorations, exhibits at both the Old Stone Mill and the Museum of Industrial Technology, a silent auction, and several on-site live demonstrations of early technology. This includes blacksmithing, which in 2008 featured both our elder blacksmith Art Shaw and our young blackmith, Paul Robertson. Inside the mill, John Emerton was on hand to demonstrate rope making and we had Maple the Cow at the Museum of Industrial technology. Volunteers such as Mary Freiday and Anna Greenhorn were on hand to greet visitors. Our curator, Paul George and assistant curator Natalie Wood were also on hand, making sure all the exhibits were up to par.
